Profile

The LocoSkates idea arose in early 2004 from the rubble left by the collapse of the late HoldNoHostage skate shop in Gosport. Proudly flying the flag for rollerblader-run stores nationwide, LocoSkates specialises in Inline skates and everything affiliated; filling the void that fashion stores, skateboard shops and non skater-run outfits couldn’t when attempting to sell such a specialist product. Loco skates and LocoSkates.com is run between Eastbourne and Brighton on the Sussex Coast, with our high-street skate shop based in Eastbourne.

The creative inspiration behind LocoSkates spawned from the mind of long-time UK aggressive skater Jake Eley who continues to run the shop and website today. Jake is best known for his committed involvement in the UK rollerblading industry, as being the ‘face of K2 skates’ in the early ‘00’s, British Champion 2002 and more recently for his skating role in an MTV video for a chart topping Ministry of Sound single.

Loco has been a popular resource for the core UK rollerblading scene, regarded highly amongst dedicated skaters across the country for our grasp on what’s current in rollerblading and knowledge of the products sold whilst simultaneously being popular amongst those who are new to the sport for our extremely competitive prices, easy to use web-interface and straight-to-the-point advice.  The LocoSkates Skate-team reflects the hardcore dedication of it’s primary customer base and includes some of the world’s best skaters. Oli Short (international rollerblading icon / most watched rollerblading video section on YouTube), Jenna Downing (Ranked Number 2 female in the world), Leon Humphries (European Valo team rider / London legend) and James Deans (UK Roces team rider). All riding for Loco for the simple fact that this is the REAL THING, no gimmicks included!  Check out our team pages for more on these guys and other Loco representatives.

Since it’s opening Loco has seen the majority of the highest profile skaters in the world through it’s doors, sleeping in the basement or just hanging out on the bench out front with many international tours dropping in to say ‘what’s goin down?’ on the way through!

LocoSkates continues to build for the future with ‘skater-run mega-store’ firmly embedded into our master plan. Web sales are up and the birth of our new website in late ‘08 and a continued local service that is second to none can only be a catalyst for success!

Thanks to everyone that supported from the beginning. x

Loco.
