Which Roller skates style should I buy?
There's a few different options when it comes to deciding which roller skates are best for you. There's skates with soft uppers and hardboot skates as well as skates with raised heels and ones with low ankles. We've noticed that much of the time preference comes down to geography, yes geography!
Hardboot Roller Skates
Here in the UK it seems that we like to buy hardboot quad skates... maybe something to do with the nostalgia of roller discos in the 80's and the dominance of the classic Bauer skates. That extra bit of ankle support will likely offer some benefit if you're skating on the rough outdoor surfaces which we have so many of in the UK.
Raised Heel Softboot Skates
These 'lifestyle' type of skates were made hugely popular during the modern rise of dance skating during the covid years and the Tiktok boom. Brands like Moxi, Impala Chaya and Rio Roller produced so many different colours, styles and textures that this type of skate appeals to style conscious skaters who fancy learning creative dance-style movements. This style of skates also feature a fairly heavily pronounced raised heel, also beneficial for strutting!
Classic Disco skates
You can also find a third style of quad skates which have a low ankle, soft upper and a less pronounced heel-raise. These are more of a classic disco skate and often priced lower than the above skates mentioned. We see price conscious customers who are new to the sport as well as kids purchasing this type of model.

Kids Roller skates.
Of course, any adult skate available in a size small enough is suitable for junior skaters too. But for the younger riders we sell size extendable skates. These usually have a hard boot and a button on the side which allows you to literally extend the toe part and make the skate longer, accommodating growth in children.
